RESIDENTS INVITED TO RIDE FREE SHUTTLE TO REGION 15 ART SHOW Public Can Pick Up Shuttle at East Hill Woods and Heritage Village Parking Lot On Saturday, April 28, Region 15 will offer a free shuttle bus for residents of Middlebury and Southbury to attend the 19th Annual Region 15 Art Gallery. A new stop this year will pick up residents of East Hill Woods in Southbury. The bus will depart the East Hill Woods Main Entrance at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The bus will then leave the Paddock parking lot in Heritage Village at 8:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The bus will drop passengers off at the front entrance of Pomperaug High School. At their convenience, riders can then pick up the bus at the high school at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. to return to Heritage Village and East Hill Woods. The bus service is not mandatory but is being extended to those without transportation or who may have difficulty walking some distance. “This is the third year that the First Student Bus Company has graciously donated a bus and driver free of charge for the Art Show,” said Elaine Kyle, coordinator of the Region 15 Art Show. “We’re very appreciative of their generosity and hope the community takes advantage of this free service.” The Region 15 Art Gallery will be open Friday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Pomperaug High School gymnasium; admission is free. The shuttle bus will be available to the public on Saturday only. Attendees can walk through the art show, starting with the kindergarten work and wind their way through elementary, middle, and high school and advanced placement art pieces. The artwork is separated into these groups so the viewer can witness the maturation of the students’ creativity and technique over time. While every effort is made to show artwork from as many students as possible, every student will not have his or her work displayed at the gallery. However, student work is often displayed at town public buildings, the Region 15 central office, and within the schools throughout the year. |
