The Key
to Good Typing
Students at
Middlebury Elementary School take time during each
technology lab to practice their keyboarding skills. Students
use the Type to Learn computer software program,
which provides skill-building instruction.
Technology teacher, Sallie McMullen suggests parents
purchase a keyboarding program for the home. Early training
can help young children learn what has become a
lifelong skill in today's computer-based world.

Foundation Calendar --
On Sale Now!
A 15-month
historical calendar (through March 2008) features
photographs of the early schools in Middlebury and
Southbury. The $20.00 tax-deductible donation will
benefit educational enrichment programs for the Region
15 school system. Copies are in local schools, and
Central Office. The calendar is published by the Region
15 Education Foundation, Inc.

Resource
Officer Discussion: TONIGHT,
Jan. 18th
Region 15 school superintendent, Dr. Frank Sippy, will be meeting
with the Southbury Board of Selectmen on January 18th to talk
about having a Resource Officer at Pomperaug High School.
The meeting is at 7:45-8:45pm at the Southbury Town Hall, Room 205.
All residents are welcome!

Boosters Meeting: TONIGHT,

The January meeting of the Region
15 Technology
Boosters will
be held on Thursday, Jan. 18th at 7pm (Southbury Stop & Shop
Conference Rm). All interested residents are invited to attend.
Short
Stories: New Works by Florin I. Firimita
PHS art teacher, Florin Firimita, will have his artwork on display
on January 27th-April 14th at the Marie
Louise Trichet Gallery in Litchfield, CT. The opening
reception is Jan. 27 from 1-3pm.
In the past 2 months, two art/literary magazines have
featured Mr. Firimita's work: The Rambler (Jan/Feb) and works
& conversations.
Winnie
the Pooh at LMES Story Time
LMES students and parents/guardians are invited to the LMES PJ
StoryHour on Tue., January 30th. Winnie the Pooh is this
year's special theme!
Keeping
Youth Safe in CyberSpace: A Presentation for Region 15 Parents
Thursday, Feb. 1 7:00pm -
9:00pm At Pomperaug High School
(Sponsored by the Southbury-Middlebury Youth & Family Services
and PHS)
This presentation will be a hands-on practical
training for parents.
Learn the facts about what is going on with adolescents and the
world wide web and learn tools and strategies that teach young
people how to avoid falling victim to predators, bullies and
inappropriate content while
allowing them to experience the benefits of technology.

Fund: Bridgeport Soundtigers
All
tickets are $12 in advance (middle school & high schoolers
& adults)
You
can order your tickets by calling the Soundtigers directly at
203-334-4625 and mentioning the Region 15 PTO Perpetual Fund
and selecting which games you’d like to attend. The tickets will
be available for pickup at the Will Call window prior to the game.
Bus tickets ($5 extra) will be sold during lunches at the middle
schools themselves. If you have any questions regarding this
event, contact Shane Beardsley at the Bridgeport Soundtigers or
your Perpetual Fund representative.

the District"
The staff and student-produced cable tv show, "Inside
the District" will be airing a new episode in late
January/February. Topics include: Science Curriculum K-8; Wellness
Committee; Grade 5 Band; and student achievements.
