Last year, over 1,000 parents signed up for this emailed newsletter "Community Connections". Many of you just signed up this month--this brings our total to over 1,385 parents who subscribe free of charge to this newsletter. We welcome your feedback and hope this newsletter keeps you informed about school happenings, answers your questions, and helps you become more involved in your community.

In this issue of "Community Connections", we are very pleased to share with you last year's CMT scores for the Region 15 students. Overall, the students performed very well on this test.

Bus Safety:  October 17-23, 2004 is National School Bus Safety Week. Spend some time with your child reviewing school bus safety rules and take a fun quiz. READ MORE>>

Family Involvement in Education:  When parents get their children ready to go back to school, they spend a lot of time buying the right supplies in hopes that their child will be prepared for the first day. Click here to learn one of the best ways to ensure a child's success.

Region 15 Sports:  The Pomperaug Regional School District #15 is well-regarded as having an excellent school system, both academically and athletically. Click here for the sports schedules for PHS, RMS, and MMS.

Early Dismissal/No School: Please note that October 8th is an Early Dismissal Day (click here for release times) for this year's first Teacher Professional Development Day. Additionally, October 11th is a No School Day in honor of Columbus Day.

2004-05 School Year Calendar Available Online

In an effort to cut costs, Region 15 will not be distributing paper calendars for the school year. The school calendars will be available on-line via the calendar link on the Region15.org website. If you are unable to download or print the calendar from the website, please ask the staff in the principal's office and they will make you a copy.

We want you to be the first to know about budget votes, school closings and/or delays, and other critical information. This information will be posted immediately on the front page of the Region 15 website in the red scrolling bar in the middle of the page.
