Bingo Night

BINGO
was the name of the game at Middlebury
Elementary School where parents, students and the
principal were on hand for the school's first annual BINGO
night. The family fun event was attended by over 150 participants and
several dads, who served as callers and livened up
the evening. A small fee collected at the door
helped cover costs for prizes while raising funds for

& GES: Coast-to-Coast Marathon
Middlebury Elementary
School started their 3rd marathon across the
U.S. on March 1 and will continue to May. This year
students and teachers are traveling through every state
capital for ten weeks. In 2005, students ran over 10,000
miles, but the trip will be longer this year because in
order to reach every capital, we need to travel 10,700
miles (not counting HI or AK). This year, Gainfield
Elementary School is starting their own Coast-to-Coast
Marathon on April 1.

Schools: Jump Rope for Heart
Third graders at
Gainfield Elementary School use the school mascot in
their "Cardiac Cougars" poster as they prepare
to Jump Rope for Heart. Gainfield is one of four Region 15
elementary schools that participate in Jump Rope for
Heart. The event, sponsored by the American
Heart Assn and the American
Alliance
for Health, Physical Education, allows physical education
instructors, coaches or teachers to conduct the event
during gym class, lunch or before or after school.
According to the AHA, since the inception of the program
over 20 years ago, participating schools and students have
raised more than $305 million for medical research and
educational programs about heart disease and stroke.
