Family Night
LMES
students,
parents, teachers and staff members showed their school
spirit at their annual Family Night event. Sponsored by
the LMES PTO, families enjoyed a night of crafts, dancing,
cheerleading and finding their personalized paw print.
Students wore their maroon and green school colors and
were tattooed with the school mascot's leopard paw print...SEE

The

RMS:
Donation toward Carolyn's Place
Rochambeau Middle
School Student Council contributed $1395 to
Carolyn's Place, a pregnancy resource center in Waterbury.
The money which is the proceeds raised from a recent variety
show at RMS will go toward health education. Above
picture, Margaret F. and Melissa S. of the Student
Council.

LMES:
Recycling
The
recycling projects done by the LMES 2nd graders were done
as part of the new science unit: Soils-properties and
composition and Recycling. Throughout March, the children
worked at home, first to design their creation and then to
build it with the assistance of their families...SEE

Basketball Blowout
The
Memorial Mustangs galloped down the court at the school's
annual Basketball Blowout, where students challenged
teachers and parents to a friendly game of hoops.
Sponsored by the MMS PTO (and co-chaired by Cindy Harris
and Val Sullivan), parents sold T-shirts, food, school
spirit items and cowbells to raise funds for the school.

Schools: Dictionaries for 3rd Graders
The
Tribury Rotary Club is making an annual contribution of
dictionaries to every third grade student in Region 15....SEE

Elementary
Schools: Colin Bootman, Author/Illustrator Program
Trinidad-born
artist and illustrator, Colin Bootman (above) visited
Region 15's elementary schools as part of the PTO
sponsored Author/Illustrator program. Having illustrated
several children's books, Mr. Bootman spoke to students about the
lively rhythms and vibrant palette of Trinidad that left
an indelible mark on his creative expression. At LMES, Mr.
Bootman autographed books for students as he encouraged
them to embrace and follow their passions.
MMS:
World Languages Week
World
Language Week was celebrated April 10-13, 2006 by the
world languages students at Memorial Middle School (see
below). This year,
the Spanish students performed their version of "The Three Bears"
and the French students taught games and songs to the 6th
graders.

PES:
School Walk for Diabetes
Mr.
Santoro's 4th graders "Sugar Stopping Warriors"
showed off their Best Class Theme award at the Pomperaug
Elementary School Walk for Diabetes. The Walk is an
educational opportunity for students and a way to raise
money for diabetes research, education, and information to
those in Connecticut living with diabetes.
