Pomperaug Theatre Co. Receives 12 Halo Nominations
The students in the Pomperaug Theatre Company have been nominated in 12 categories by the Halo committee this year. Halo is an annual award event that celebrates high school theatre in CT and is run by the Seven Angels Theatre of Waterbury. Pomperaug Theatre Co. has been participating in this program for 3 years and have done well in the past. The awards will be given to the winners at the annual ceremony Monday night, May 19th....READ NOMINEES>>

MMS Students Published in CT Student Writer
Jacqueline B. and Jack M. had their writing pieces selected for publication in the Connecticut Student Writer, a statewide magazine that recognizes excellence in student writing. The students will receive a certificate of merit and copies of the magazine at a recognition ceremony at UConn on May 20th.

History Day Results
Under the guidance of Sharon Wlodarczyk, 10 Region 15 students participated in National History Day in Hartford (2 from PHS; 8 from RMS). While all the students did well, Libby M., Elizabeth M., and Margaret W. will be moving onto National competition in June at the Univ. of Maryland...

Red Cross Honors MMS Student for Heroism
At the Waterbury Area Chapter (American Red Cross) first annual Images of Heroes Gala on May 3, MMS student, Kendrick L., was honored for his thoughtful act in averting a potentially disastrous situation.

PHS Athletics Receives Michaels Achievement Cup
Pomperaug High School Athletics has been recognized by the Michaels Achievement Cup Committee for 3rd place in Class L. Michaels Jewelers recognizes high school athletic programs that are outstanding in the areas of participation, win-lost record, medical coverage, policies and other categories. PHS has been recognized in the top 10 since 1997.

MMS PTO Helps Ping Pong Club
The MMS PTO covered the start- up costs for tables and equipment for the 20-plus students who have started a ping pong club at MMS after school. Mr. Trusiewicz and Mr. Griffen volunteer as teacher-advisors for the club.

This June, Mr. Florin Firimita, art teacher at Pomperaug High School, will have his art shown at an art exhibit at the Art Gotham Gallery in NYC (Soho).
