The Region 15 Art Gallery will be open Friday, April 28 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Pomperaug High School gymnasium. The shuttle bus will be available to the public on Saturday only.

The bus service is not mandatory but is being extended to those without transportation or who may have difficulty walking some distance.

This is the second year that First Student Bus Company has graciously donated a bus and driver free of charge to the school system and members of the community.

“About fifteen people, primarily from Heritage Village, took advantage of the service last year, which was especially helpful since that Saturday morning was so rainy and chilly,” said Jane Sarjeant, Director of Fine Arts.

“We want to make it safe, convenient, and fun for everyone to attend the art gallery, and we hope even more people in the towns take advantage of the free shuttle.”

Attendees can walk through the art show, starting with the kindergarten work and wind their way through elementary, middle, and high school and advanced placement art pieces. The artwork is separated into these groups so the viewer can witness the maturation of the students’ creativity and technique over time.

Also new this year, the Heritage Deli and Café is donating a coupon redeemable for a free bottled water or small coffee to shuttle riders. Upon getting off the shuttle at the Heritage Village parking lot, riders will be given a coupon that they can use at the café.

Admission to the Region 15 Art Show is free. “I hope residents will make riding the shuttle bus to the art gallery an annual tradition,” said Mrs. Sarjeant. “You can spend the morning at the art gallery then go out to the Heritage Deli and Café for a cup of coffee. What a nice way to spend a Saturday.”
