Information for Application Process for Waterbury Arts Magnet School
Region 15 to host Waterbury Arts Magnet School Informational Meeting: 
Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 7:00 p.m., at the LMES Cafeteria.

Applications for out of town students from Naugatuck, Region 15, Wolcott, Terryville/Plymouth and Thomaston are available in the Superintendent’s office in each town.  They must be returned to those same offices before March 23 rd (see below).

Applications for Waterbury public school students are available at elementary, middle and high schools.  They should be returned to the Waterbury Arts Magnet School, 16 South Elm Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 or dropped off in person.

Waterbury residents attending private or parochial schools may pick up applications at the Waterbury Arts Magnet School or from their school office.  Applications MUST BE completely filled out.  Parents must attach a proof of residency, a copy of the child’s birth certificate and the child’s social security number.

Applications will be available February 15th and are due back NO LATER than 2:00 p.m. on March 23rd.  This is the CLOSING date and no applications will be considered that come in after that date and time.  No special consideration is given for the date on which applications arrive, as long as they are within the deadline.

Lottery numbers are NOT issued at the time that applications are submitted.

OPEN HOUSE AND TOURS will be held on Thursday, March 3rd from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, March 5th from 10-12 noon – Palace Theater, East Main Street, Waterbury.

***Paid parking is available in the ramp garage behind the Palace and Waterbury Arts Magnet School.***

There will be NO individual tours of the school.

Spaces available:  6th grade:  100 spots total

                            7th grade:  very few spaces

                            8th grade:  very few spaces

                            9th grade:  25 spots total

                          10th grade:  5-10 spots total

                          11th grade:  5-10 spots total

Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.  Some additional consideration will be given to siblings of present Waterbury Arts Magnet School students but no guarantees of acceptance are made.

The citywide Lottery will be held in mid-April.  Applicants will be notified by mail of their child’s lottery number in late April.  A waiting list will be kept through January 1st, 2006.
