Region 15 Announces New Assistant Principal
at
It was back to business as usual, January 4 at Rochambeau Middle
School as staff and students returned to school following the
holiday break. But,
as the New Year begins, a new first mate stands at the helm of
the Southbury school.
Region 15 is pleased to announce that Mr. Jason Bluestein
has joined RMS as the school’s new Assistant Principal.
“I am extremely thrilled that he is finally here,”
said RMS Principal Lauren Robinson.
“After what I would call an intensely competitive and
time intensive search, we have found someone who will help us
advance our mission and school improvement plan at
Rochambeau.”
According to Ms. Robinson, the first day on the job was a
delayed school opening and Mr. Bluestein was immediately
introduced to the need for flexibility when running a middle
school.
“My first day at RMS was terrific,” Mr. Bluestein
reports. “I spent
a lot of time in classrooms and in the halls meeting staff and
students.”
Referring
to the days ahead, he says, “First and foremost I want to
bring my enthusiasm for education to RMS. I am a high energy
person who sees relationship and culture building as critical
elements to moving a school forward.
I also love instructional leadership and school
improvement.”
A graduate of the Monroe, CT public school system, Mr.
Bluestein has been a resident of Trumbull for the past year and
a half. He holds an
undergraduate degree in political science from the
University of CT – Storrs, a Masters in Education from Sacred
Heart University, where he has taught in the Graduate School of
Education for the past seven years, and a sixth year in
administration from Southern CT State University.
Mr. Bluestein has worked in education for the past 13
years. His career
began as a fifth grade teacher in Woodbridge, CT.
Having also taught fourth and fifth grade in Trumbull,
CT, Mr. Bluestein has spent the last five years working in
Fairfield, CT, first as an 8th grade teacher and most
recently at Central Office as the District Instructional
Improvement Teacher.
“Jason's knowledge of effective instruction and what it
takes to maintain an excellent school along with his
experiences within the classroom and at Central Office in
Fairfield will only enhance our abilities as a leadership team
to support teachers in their efforts to make a positive
difference in the lives of our students,” said Ms. Robinson.
“Jason has the reputation of being smart, caring,
energetic and dedicated to making sure students are provided
with the best education imaginable. He also has very clear
ideas about how to achieve this lofty goal,” she adds.
In his leisure time, Mr. Bluestein is an avid golf and
tennis player as well as a huge sports fan standing behind UConn,
the Mets and the Giants.
Of his chosen career he says, “I
chose education for two reasons.
First, I wanted to help children grow as students and
more importantly as people. Second, I love the process of
learning and wanted to work in an environment that promotes
lifelong learning for both children and adults.”
