REGION 15 STAFFMEMBERS WILL TRAVEL TO CHINA FOR PROFESSIONAL
EXCHANGE Dr.
Yolande Bosman, Region 15 Director of World Language and Dr.
Lois Lanning, assistant school superintendent, will use Freeman
Foundation grant funds to participate in a professional exchange
with a sister school in China.
During this 10-day field study, participants are expected
to build relationships for continued collaboration, and exchange
knowledge and ideas about educational practices. This trip will take place April 13 through April 23, 2007 --
eight of these days are part of spring recess. The Connecticut State Department of
Education made a specific agreement in 2005 to establish a
Partnership with Connecticut schools in Shandong Province,
China. Some of the
organizations supporting this effort include Yale University,
The Connecticut Council for Social Studies, The Connecticut
State Department of Economics and Community Development, and The
World Affairs Council of Connecticut. “Next fall, we hope to host an exchange with Chinese educators coming to Pomperaug High School. The more knowledge and understanding we have about each other’s education and culture, the better we can prepare our students for the globalized world they will work and compete in,” said Dr. Lois Lanning. |
