Goal 1: Skills for Learning
The student acquires the attitudes, knowledge, aptitudes, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school.

The student will:

1. Explain how making mistakes is part of learning.
2. Practice effective speaking and listening skills.
3. Review the importance of listening.

 

Goal 2: School Success
The student employs strategies to achieve success in school.

The student will:

1. Follow school rules.
2. List the services provided by school counselor.
3. Practice self-control and individual responsibility.
4. Explore the idea of how they are connected to family, school, and community.

 

Goal 3: Academics to Life Success
The student
understands the relationship of academics to the world of work and to life at home and in the community.

The student will:

1. Explain the need for cooperating in a group.
2. Use cooperation skills with classmates.

 

Goal 4: Investigate Careers
The student acquires the skills to investigate the world of work in relation to knowledge of self and to make career choices.

The student will:

1. Review the concepts of work.
2. Define likes and dislikes.

 

Goal 5: Career Success
Students will employ strategies to achieve future career success and satisfaction.

The student will:

1. State chores/jobs at home and school.
2. Identify the duties of school and community workers.

 

Goal 6: Relationship Between School and Work
The student will understand the relationship between personal qualities, education and training in the world of work.

The student will:

1. Discuss the importance of a culturally diverse population.
2. Explore the variety of jobs in a community.

 

Goal 7: Respect Self and Others
The student acquires the knowledge, attitudes, and interpersonal skills to help understand and respect self and others.

The student will:

1. Practice skills for making and keeping friends.
2. Identify positive individual characteristics.
3. Discuss that people have similarities and differences.
4. Identify 2 strategies to deal with a problem.
5. Identify feelings and appropriate means of expressing them.

 

Goal 8: Goal Setting and Attainment
The student makes decisions, goal sets, and takes action.

The student will:

1. Show awareness of personal choices.
2. Set simple goals.
3. Explain the importance of cooperation.

Goal 9: Survival and Safety Skills
The student understands safety and survival skills.

The student will:

1. Demonstrate the concept of personal space.
2. Demonstrate an awareness of the effects his/her actions have on others.
3. Discuss personal safety.
4. Identify the difference between medicine and candy.
