Goal 1: Skills for Learning
The student acquires the attitudes, knowledge, aptitudes, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school.

The student will:

1. Practice stress relieving strategies when confronted with a problem.
2. Discuss feelings related to transition/change.

 

Goal 2: School Success
The student employs strategies to achieve success in school.

The student will:

1. Discuss common problems that arise in school.
2. Demonstrate cooperative learning skills during group work.
3. Apply steps in the decision-making process.

 

Goal 3: Academics to Life Success
The student
understands the relationship of academics to the world of work and to life at home and in the community.

The student will:

1. Explore strategies to improve study skills.
2. Explain the connection between time management and success.

 

Goal 4: Investigate Careers
The student acquires the skills to investigate the world of work in relation to knowledge of self and to make career choices.

The student will:

1. Tell how personal strengths and interests can be applied to career choices.
2. List reasons why career development is a continuous process.

 

Goal 5: Career Success
Students will employ strategies to achieve future career success and satisfaction.

The student will:

1. Evaluate his/her interests, strengths and weaknesses.
2. Identify various career choices.

 

Goal 6: Relationship Between School and Work
The student will understand the relationship between personal qualities, education and training in the world of work.

The student will:

1. Discuss the connection between personal qualities and job success.
2. Explain the relationship between school and career success.

 

Goal 7: Respect Self and Others
The student acquires the knowledge, attitudes, and interpersonal skills to help understand and respect self and others.

The student will:

1. Express emotions in a socially acceptable manner.
2. Identify positive responses to negative comments.
3. Demonstrate cooperation skills.
4. Demonstrate the concept of respect.

 

Goal 8: Goal Setting and Attainment
The student makes decisions, goal sets, and takes action.

The student will:

1. Practice the decision-making process.
2. Discuss the importance of the decision-making process in achievement of goals.
3. Define the importance of identifying the problem to be solved.

 

Goal 9: Survival and Safety Skills
The student understands safety and survival skills.

The student will:

1. Show an awareness of the emotional and physical effects of drugs.
2. Learn stress management techniques.
3. Discuss ways to assess problem situations and create positive changes.
