Grades 9 - 12 Course
Offerings: Theatre Arts Acting
I
(1/2 year, 1/2
credit)
This course will introduce basics of action. Class exercises
will develop the student's sense of stage presence, vocal range,
fluidity of movement, and concentration. The course is built on
"method" system of acting.
Acting II
(1/2 year, 1/2
credit)
Prerequisite: Acting I
Built upon the foundations laid in Acting I, students are
assigned challenging scenes and monologues, and a "master
class" format is conducted. Professional-style audition
techniques are studied.
Acting in Production
(1/2 year, 1/2 credit)
Students audition, rehearse, and perform in a mainstage or
studio production produced by the Pomperaug Theatre Company. The
course teaches script interpretation, rehearsal protocol,
blocking and movement, memorization, characterization,
physicalization, projection, timing and delivery, makeup,
handling properties and costumes, and performance analysis.
Stagecraft in Production
(1/2 year, 1/2 credit in
Arts/Vocational Arts)
Course activities include set design and construction, costume
design, lighting design and execution, stage properties, running
crews, backstage organization and inventory, and stage
management.
