Grade Level: Grades 7 - 8 FRENCH The course is intended for beginners. Each unit assesses listening comprehension, encourages oral expression, and involves activities in writing. In the spring, 8th grade students undergo an assessment to determine their mastery level in order to arrange for appropriate placement for further French study at the high school. The units are thematically divided into topics, including weather, sports, past-times, months, seasons, present tense, past tense and future. SPANISH The course is intended for beginners. NOTE: 7th grade is considered 1a and 8th grade 1b. Both years are equal to high school level 1. Yet no high school credit is given for study at the middle school level. The experience, however, provides a depth and breadth of language study, knowing that brain research substantiates the fact that facility in a second language is made easier if there is contact and exposure before the age of 10. |
