       WHAT:       Election of Region 15 Board of Education Candidates

 
Southbury Candidates: Sharon Elias, Esq. (incumbent), Sharon Lawler-Guck, Eileen Mooney Strange, Francis (Frank) Pellegrini, John Reilly, Vincenzo (Vinny) Toscano.

  Middlebury Candidates: Joseph Drauss (incumbent), David Erwin (incumbent)

       WHEN:      Tuesday, November 6, 2007          Polls Are Open 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

       WHERE:      Depends upon where you live. Check with the Registrar's Office/Town Hall.

       WHO:         All Registered Voters or Owners of taxable property valued over $1,000
are eligible to vote in the School Budget Referendum. The property (real estate/home, motor vehicle, personal) must be listed in the person’s name on the
October 1, 2006 Grand List.  Owner(s) must be a U.S. Citizen(s) over 18 years of age.

       WHY:          To elect 3 Board of Education candidates representing Southbury and 2 Board of Education candidates representing Middlebury. The upcoming Board of Education (BOE) election on November 6, 2007 will have six people running for three BOE positions in Southbury. The two candidates in Middlebury are competing for two positions and therefore the race is uncontested.

       HOW:        This is the first election during which the State of Connecticut will use Optical Scan Ballots. The ballot is printed in both sides. Be sure to turn the ballot over to complete your vote!

       VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION:  To register to vote, go to the Town Hall, show identification and fill out a form. Absentee ballot applications are also available now. Mail-in deadline for voter registration is Oct. 23 and walk-in deadline is Oct. 30th.
