DID
YOU KNOW? ·
In a
recent Region 15 survey, the number one reason for not voting
was “schedule conflict”.
All Registered
Voters or Owners of taxable property valued over $1,000 are
eligible to vote. The
property (real estate/home, motor vehicle, personal) must be
listed in the person’s name on the October 1, 2004 Grand
List. Owner(s)
must be U.S. Citizen(s) over 18 years of age.
Here’s how you can obtain Absentee
Ballots for a spouse or college student who will be out of
town, a resident who is immobilized or anyone with a conflict,
as stated on the Application for Absentee Ballot that may
prevent them from voting on the proposed 2005-2006
school budget on Wednesday, May 4th:
STEP ONE: Obtain an Application for Absentee Ballot for Referendum Authorized to be Held with Less Than 3 Weeks Notice (Form ED-3R REV 2/00). You can obtain an Application for Absentee Ballot the following ways:
Middlebury
Town Hall: 758-2557,
1212 Whittemore Road, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Southbury
Town Hall:
262-0657, 501 Main Street, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
STEP
TWO: Return the
completed Application for Absentee Ballot to your Town
Clerk in person or through a designee.
Once your Application has been delivered, the
finalized Absentee Ballot should be available through
the Town Clerk’s office by April 20th.
As this date is unconfirmed at this time, please
telephone the Town Clerk’s office to check availability.
Once you have confirmed availability, the Absentee
Ballot can be obtained from the Town Clerk, either in
person or through an authorized designee.
STEP
THREE: You can vote
and cast the Absentee Ballot at the Town Clerk’s
office the very same day you pick it up.
If you have appointed an authorized designee, your Absentee
Ballot must be returned in person to the Town Clerk on or
before the May 4th Referendum. Chairperson,
Dr. Sandi Carbonari Welsh
