Region 15 Board of Education Has New Members

On November 8, residents in Middlebury and Southbury voted in a general election, which included candidates for the Pomperaug Regional School District 15 Board of Education.

The new Board of Education includes: Joseph J. Drauss, Dr. Kenneth A. Paddyfote, Stephen P. Moore, Patricia S. Perry, Ioannis A. (John) Kaloidis, John A. (Jack) Kelly, Jr., Laurence E. Shapiro, Glen Shipway, Joseph J. Zukoski, III, and Joseph Rock.

The PTO Advisory would like to thank outgoing members Michael K. Kenausis, and Charles R. Allen for their dedicated service to the Board of Education and the Region 15 community.

Mr. Rock and Mr. Shipway are new Board of Education members. Ms. Perry, Mr. Moore, and Dr. Paddyfote were re-elected to serve another term until November 2009.

The PTO Advisory would like to welcome the two new Board of Education members:

Joseph Rock (Middlebury): Mr. Rock has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Masters degree in public administration. He worked for United Technologies for 32 years and is now a consultant for them. His daughter went through the Region 15 school system from Kindergarten through grade eight. As a Board of Education member, Mr. Rock hopes to help implement a strong technology program in Region 15 and will be meeting with Dr. Sippy very soon with proposals.

Glen Shipway (Southbury): Mr. Shipway officially retired from the brokerage industry in 2002 but has remained involved through consulting assignments and as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Stock Exchange. As a Board of Education member, Mr. Shipway would like to keep the focus of the district’s educational effort directed toward achieving the BOE-stated strategic goal of meeting or exceeding the state and federal standards for all students. This means focusing on math, science, reading, and writing.

The Pomperaug Regional School District 15 Board of Education meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Pomperaug High School All-Purpose Room. All meetings are open to the public and each regular Board of Education meeting includes an opportunity for public comments.
