15 PTO ADVISORY COUNCIL
DID YOU KNOW?
You
can learn about the Region 15 school budget and ask
questions about the budget at many different meetings and
websites.
Dr.
Frank Sippy, Region 15 school superintendent, will be
presenting his budget proposal for school year 2005-06 to
the Board of Education on Monday, February 14th
at 7:30pm (Pomperaug High School All-Purpose Room).
Middlebury
and Southbury residents will be hosting Neighborhood
Coffees attended by Dr. Sippy as he talks about and
answers questions/comments about the budget. If you would
like to host a Coffee, please contact the
School/Home/Community Liaison at 262-6213 or by email at tepperman@earthlink.net.
Dr. Frank
Sippy will be visiting each school’s PTO meeting
between now and May to talk about the budget. He’ll be
able to answer questions at that time. Contact your school
PTO for details on his budget presentation date and time.
Region 15
invites all interested residents to attend the three Board
of Education’s Finance Committee Budget Workshops
at the Central Office in Middlebury: March 2, March 9, March
21--all at 7:00pm.
All concerned
citizens are encouraged to attend and/or speak at the Region
15 Board of Education meetings at the PHS All-Purpose
Room. Check the district website (www.Region15.org)
for meeting dates and agendas. Those residents who wish to
address the Board of Education may speak during Citizens’
Comments.
Check the
district website for the Weekly Superintendent’s Update
and the monthly “Community Connections” emailed
newsletter for current budget information. To sign up to
receive “Community Connections”, please email your name
& email address to Karen Kirk at karenmkz@charter.net.
The Public
Hearing on the 2005-06 school budget is April 11th
at the PHS All-Purpose Room at 7:30pm.

Referendum Facts
- All
eligible family members can vote! Anyone (including
students) who owns at least $1,000 of taxable property
can vote on the referendum as part of the Grand List.
- Out-of-town college
students as well as traveling or vacationing residents
can submit an absentee ballot. See your town
clerk for more information on absentee voting.
