Region 15 Students Awarded 2018 Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards

Students from Pomperaug High School, Rochambeau Middle School, and Memorial Middle School were recognized at the Region 15 Board of Education meeting on February, 12th for their selection as 2018 award recipients in the 29th annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards, the largest juried student art exhibition in the state of Connecticut. Students participated in the awards presentation on Sunday, January 28th at Lincoln Theater at the University of Hartford in Hartford, CT.
Katrina Hon, earned a Silver Key in Drawing and Illustration for her artwork “Love Story”, Sophia LaMarco, received an honorable mention in Ceramics and Glass for her artwork “Galaxy Clay Bust”, Jacquline Tavoletti earned a Gold Key award in Drawing and Illustration for her artwork “The Search”; and Katie McKune received an honorable mention for her artwork “Hear No Evil".
Professional artists and University of Hartford art faculty judged over 1,500 Connecticut student art works in varied art media categories. Artwork was selected on merit for inclusion in the statewide art exhibition that was held at the Hartford Art School. Beyond the honor of being selected for this exclusive exhibit, students were awarded gold or silver keys and honorable mention places in each of 17 media categories.
