Region 15 Installs New Point of Sale System for School Lunch Program August 24, 2006
Dear Parents/Guardian:
A new payment option will be made available to all Regional School District 15 students purchasing lunch in our school cafeterias. Please read the following information carefully.
An electronic account for each student has been created using your child’s name and ultimately their picture. This system will allow you the convenience of paying in advance for your son’s or daughter’s meals. For the Elementary Schools, snacks, juice and water will continue to be on a cash basis at this time. Rather than paying with cash for lunch, students can now pay through a computerized debit system. The following grid will help you to determine the amount that you send in.
Elementary Schools:
Middle and High Schools
To make a deposit, simply enclose the desired amount in an envelope. Label it with your son’s/daughter’s teacher name and your child’s name. Your son or daughter will bring it to the cafeteria and the money will be deposited into your child’s account. You can deposit any amount of money at any time into your child’s account. In the event that your child’s account is “overdrawn,” he or she will still receive his or her lunch and any outstanding balance will be deducted later from new deposits. In the future parents can request printed activity reports that show what food items their child has purchased and the nutritional information for those items and we also hope to have payment options via the internet.
All students will still have the option of paying with cash. The deposits within your child’s lunch account can be used for the lunch program only and can not be applied to other expenses at school. Please make your checks payable to Region 15 Lunch Program. If you have any questions, please contact me at 203 758-8259 extension 126 or via e-mail pbrooks@region15.org.
Sincerely,
Peter Brooks Director of Food Services
