Substitute Teachers

 

Policy

 

 

 

It is the policy of the Region 15 Board of Education that substitute teachers are recognized as being essential to the conduct of an integrated, day-to-day instructional program.  While on duty, they will be fully responsible for all duties assigned the teacher for whom they are substituting.

 

Each substitute teacher shall have completed a Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Annually, the Superintendent of Schools shall recommend to the Board of Education a per diem salary for all substitute teachers.

 

REGULATIONS

 

1.

Prior to August 15 of each school year, a list of approved substitute teachers will be developed by the Superintendent’s office and provided for each Principal.  This list will be updated on a monthly basis.  The use of substitute teachers will be restricted to the approved list except in those situations where prior approval has been provided by the Superintendent.

2.

Salary shall be based on a per diem rate to be approved annually by the Board of Education.

3.

Beginning with the 11th day of consecutive service in the same position, payment shall be made as indicated on the attached schedule.  The daily rate of pay for substitutes in multiple assignments after 15 days is as indicated on the attached schedule.

Approved Substitute Rates

 

Effective 1 July 2000

 

 

 

1.

The basic daily rate for substitute service is $75.

 

 

2.

After ten consecutive days in the same assignment, the per diem rate is $95.

 

 

3.

The above applies for each school calendar year.
