Administration of Medications by School Personnel

Policy

It is the policy of the Region 15 Board of Education that the administration of medications is a part of the health support system designed to meet the needs of individual students in Regional School District 15 schools.  Medications will be administered by the school nurse or school physician only with written orders of a physician or dentist licensed to practice in this state or another state and written authorization from the parents or guardians.  In the absence of the school nurse, only designated staff, in accordance with the administrative regulations, who have been properly trained may administer authorized medications to students.  Coaches of intramural and interscholastic athletics, who are working in the capacity as coaches and have been properly trained, may also administer authorized medications to students.
