Substance Abuse Prevention

Policy

It is the policy of the Region 15 Board of Education that the administration and staff of Region 15, in cooperation with the students’ parents/guardians will make a strong and consistent effort to educate, prevent and intervene in the abuse of all drug, alcohol and mood altering substances by the entire student population. This will be accomplished through the implementation of a health education/substance abuse prevention curriculum, assemblies, classroom and school activities, community support and resources, the development of and disciplinary procedures, and rehabilitation counseling/treatment. Consistent with this goal, the Board prohibits the unauthorized possession, use, sale, or distribution of drugs, drug paraphernalia, or alcohol on or off school property or at any school sponsored activity. Any violations of Board policy, regulations or other rules involving drugs, drug paraphernalia or alcohol may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or expulsion.
