Recognition and Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect

Policy

It is the policy of the Region 15 Board of Education  in compliance with Connecticut General Statute §17 a-101 to 103 that the Board of Education adopt a written policy regarding the reporting by school employees of suspected child abuse herein sets forth its policy.

The Board will provide all school employees with  education and training regarding the signs and symptoms of suspected child abuse (including sexual abuse) and  neglect, and will instruct them on the procedures to follow to report these situations to the proper authorities.  Additionally, the Board requires all staff members to carefully follow the District's administrative regulations and procedures in reporting a case of suspected child abuse or neglect.  This policy and the accompanying procedures will be reviewed and revised periodically as necessary.
