“Inside
the District” Returns for its Second Season on “Inside
the District”,
Region 15’s student and staff produced television show,
returns to Region 15 TV WTCH, for its second season of
programming.
The local cable show, which launched in April 2006, airs
on Channel 16 in Middlebury and Channel 17 in Southbury.
The program was developed and co-produced by Memorial
Middle School (MMS) math and history teacher, LeAnn Cassidy and
Region 15’s School/Home/Community Liaison, Karen Kirk.
This season, the show welcomes new director, Charles
Vlahos, Pomperaug High School’s (PHS) Technology and Video
teacher.
The newest episode of “Inside the District” is hosted
by Southbury parent, Anna Teardo, who shares the screen with a
different student co-host each show.
This edition is co-hosted by Middlebury Elementary School
5th grade student, Colin C. The
first episode of the new season features a segment on the Long
Meadow Elementary School (LMES) PTO After School Enrichment
Program, with footage from the program and interviews with LMES
Principal, Richard Gusenburg, and PTO Program Chairman, Connie
Holt. Also
on the show, is a story about the benefits of Region 15’s New
Teacher Mentoring Program.
The segment features interviews with Mentors, Aimee
Turner, LMES Pre-School teacher and Jodie Hellmann, PHS Physical
Education teacher, along with Kathy Burke, a new math and
history teacher at Rochambeau Middle School.
“The Coaches Corner”, a regular segment on “Inside
the District” which focuses on school sports, is hosted by
John B., an 8th grade student from MMS. The segment features interviews with coaches and members of
Region 15’s Middle School Cross Country teams along with
footage from recent races.
Other regular segments from the show, include “Music
from around the District”, and the “Superintendent’s
Mailbag”, where questions sent in by the viewing audience are
answered by Region 15 Superintendent of Schools, Frank Sippy.
“Inside the District showcases student and staff
achievements while giving students an opportunity to learn about
video production, editing, lighting, and set design,” said Ms.
Kirk. “Getting
this show on the air takes much effort from members of our
schools and community. The show was very well received last year and we are thrilled
to be back with a new season of programming,” she adds. Tune in to see the great things that are happening in Region 15. |
