Field Day

The Volunteer luncheon was both beautiful to look at and very tasty to enjoy.  Tracey Berthelson was honored as LMES VOlunteer of the Year for 2008.
Author/Illustrator Melissa Sweet visited LMES on April 22nd.  Not only were the children treated to a slide show and a story, but she also gave everyone a special sketchpad and pencils.  During the program, the children were able to sketch along with her as a special art lesson!

5th Graders created three-dimensional clay self-portraits expressing a significant aspect of their personality.

Family night was a great hit this year.  Representatives from several local museums and cultural centers gave demonstrations and provided a lot of fun for all.

Jump Rope for Heart - LMES 5th graders jumped rope and raised $6700 for the American Heart Association

Grade 5 Roaring Brook field trip.

Geronimo Stilton was the guest of honor at PJ Storyhour on January 29th.  Students came to school in their PJ's and were treated to stories read by Mr. Gusenburg and many parent volunteers.  The evening was coordinated by Mrs. Groman and Mrs. Sullivan.

Long Meadow students are shaping and glazing angels as part of the school's annual "Angels of Hope" community service project.

Third Graders create Native American Crafts

Our preschool and kindergarten children had a wonderful Halloween time including a parade throughout the entire school.

Each year the PTO invites our parents and students for breakfast. This yearly "Muffin Mates" program attracts hundreds of people

LMES students and staff decorated bulletin boards to celebrate the 10 year anniversary

The 2007 Ice Cream Social was a great hit as we celebrated our 10th anniverary.

Grade three students created characters from their favorite books. Can you guess the book?

Our parent teacher night was, once again, a great success. Hundreds of parents attended an enjoyable evening and learned about the curriculum and program here at LMES.

The LMES Printing Press gives our children an opportunity to become real authors by publishing their own books. Coordinated by Mrs. Groman and Mrs. Richardson and run by parent volunteers, hundreds of books will be produced each year.

Our students are very involved in various citizenship activities. Below are pictures of our first grade students who have been corresponding with soldiers in Iraq.

Each year Mr. Lefkovich, the Technology Coordinator, works with students to create and program their own robots.
Field Day one again offered a great time for students and staff and parent volunteers. Games throughout the morning were followed by a water balloon toss and tug of war. A big thank you to Mrs. McVerry and Ms. Sauvron who organized the whole day.
