Our primary purpose at Long Meadow
Elementary School is the development of literate
students. In addition to reading, writing and math we work hard to integrate the
arts into all we do. Students learn to communicate in a variety of formats.
Along with the written word the literate student also develops skills in art,
music, and movement. These efforts are highlighted in our regular "town
meetings" where the feelings and ideas of a student's poem may be shared
with the whole school supported by drawings, musical background, and a dance
routine developed by others in our student body with the support of our
wonderful staff. Students soon learn that we can communicate ideas and feelings
in a variety of formats. Click here to see pictures
from art class. Following are some examples of how the arts are
highlighted at LMES.

Our art classes learn about the great artists and what
makes them special.
Our kindergarten students, with guidance from our very
artistic parent volunteers have painted the rain forest mural.
Our school is filled with samples of many of the greatest art works by
the greatest artists.
The grade five band begins its first lessons in October.
