I=92d=20 like to extend my appreciation for supporting the PTO Innsbrook sale, = Book Fair,=20 T-Shirt sale and all the PTO functions this fall.  Your efforts have been very = beneficial=20 enabling the PTO to sponsor Teacher Grants and other activities that = enrich our=20 school environment.

 

Our Thanksgiving = baskets=20 demonstrated a great team effort to support our community.  Thirty three food baskets (21 = from MES)=20 were delivered to the Middlebury Food Bank and St. Mary=92s Hospital = Family=20 Services valuing approximately $2000. =20

 

There will be no PTO meeting in December so on = behalf of the=20 Executive Board and membership; I=92d like to extend our wishes for a = Safe and=20 Joyous Holiday Season.

 

Yearbook=20 News:

 

November 15 was the deadline for all orders, = however,=20 if you didn't order one and have changed your mind, IT IS STILL = NOT TOO=20 LATE!   Please = call me at=20 598-3280 and I will add your child's name to the list and then you = may=20 send your check (for $12.00) into school with your child in an = envelope=20 marked MES PTO - YEARBOOK.

 

A reminder to all room mothers:   The pictures of = your class=20 must be developed and in the office by December 15, 2002.    PLEASE = remember to=20 mark both copies of the photo with names of the child(ren) in the=20 picture.   This = will make=20 our job a lot easier to ensure that everyone gets included in the=20 yearbook

Convened:  The meeting was = called to=20 order at 7:03 p.m. by Jackie Mulhall.

 

Secretary=92s=20 Report:  Pam DeJulio.  The Secretary's Report was = tabled; Oct.=20 meeting minutes were not available.

 

Treasurer=92s=20 Report:  Carol Brunick.  The Treasurer's = Report was=20 accepted as presented. Balance $28,117.97

 

Principal=92s=20 Report    There have been = many parent=20 volunteers in the school recently, and the faculty is very appreciative = of not=20 only the support this provides them, but it enables teachers to provide = many=20 more enriching experiences when helpful adult hands are present.  Mrs. Meehan, the School Nurse, = would=20 like to remind parents that the cold and flu season is already making = its'=20 presence felt at MES, so please keep your children home until they are = fever=20 free (without medication) for 24 hours. =20 Along that same thought, Mary Grace Duley, a Registered Nurse, = presented=20 some guidelines for keeping everyone healthy.  The printed guidelines will be = distributed to each child in their classes.

 

Teacher=20 Representatives =96 Cynthia = Flisher   The faculty is thrilled = with their=20 MES wear (courtesy of the PTO), and will be donning it for the = Anniversary=20 Celebrations on Friday 11/22. =20

 

COMMITTEE=20 REPORTS

Ways=20 & Means =96 Beth Marino, = chairperson.  The = Innisbrook sale=20 did very well.  There was = a bit of=20 profit from the t-shirt sale.  = That=20 profit may help fund some Teacher Grants.

 

Cultural=20 Arts =96 Sue=20 Giangarra-chairperson.  At = this=20 time, there is approximately $600 to engage a production for the = spring.  We will investigate what we = can acquire=20 for that amount.

 

Yearbook =96 Leslie = House,=20 chairperson.  Currently = 275 have=20 been ordered (out of a student population of 445).  The staff and group photos are = scheduled=20 to be taken in early January. =20 Classroom candids are to be turned in NO LATER than December=20 15th.

 

Room Mother=20 Coordinators =96 Jackie = Desmaris, Beth=20 Marino chairpersons.  = Roommother=92s :=20 Please provide pictures with children=92s names on the back to Yearbook = committee=20 by 12/15.

 

Community=20 Service=20 =96The Middlebury Children's Christmas Sale is scheduled for the = Middlebury=20 library Friday Dec. 6 (preschoolers and kindergarteners only) and = Saturday Dec.=20 7.  Krista Matthews is = organizing=20 this very popular project by herself. =20 She needs donations of new or gently used items for the children = to buy,=20 and she needs volunteers to set-up, work, and acquire donations from = local=20 businesses.  There will = also be a=20 bake sale (which will benefit the Middlebury Emergency Fund of Social = Services)=20 and a hat/coat/mitten drive to benefit the people of Middlebury who may = not=20 otherwise have a warm coat, etc. this winter.  Everyone is urged to = contribute.  For details, contact=20 Krista.

 

Relay For=20 Life:  Mary Ann Holland, = chairperson.  Team registrations will begin = in=20 February.  The MES PTO = team has 9=20 members.  We are searching = for one=20 more to join!  The Relay = this year=20 will be held May 31st at PHS. =20 Possible fundraising ideas were discussed, as the American Cancer = Society=20 would like each team to have a minimum of $1,000. in=20 sponsorship.

 

Membership=20 Coordinator =96 Shelly = Pille,=20 chairperson.  The annual = MES=20 Rollerskating Party will be held Feb. 17th at RollerMagic in = Waterbury.  Admission will be $5.00 per = skater. One=20 dollar from each ticket will support the PTO Relay for Life team. The = Family=20 Dance will be held March 21.  = Dress=20 code (as voted by MES students): Pajamas!

 

PTO Newsletter = =96 Kathy=20 D=92Andrea. Provide information via e-mail (Dandreakm@aol).  Her deadline for inclusion is = the Friday=20 following the PTO meeting.  = Elaine=20 Gonzales will copy the newsletters for = distribution.

 

NEW =  BUSINESS

A=20 fundraiser will be held in the next few weeks (in conjunction with MMS) = to=20 assist a local family that recently lost their father. While scholarship = funds=20 have been established to assist the children in the future, the family = needs a=20 helping hand now.  Funds = raised by=20 the sale of the cookie dough will go directly to the family.  Dr. Sippy will approve a copy = of the=20 flyer before distribution.

 

The next PTO = meeting will=20 be held during the day, in the cafeteria. =20 The next meeting will be January 21, 2003 at 10=20 a.m.
