PES's Media Specialist Awarded
CEMA Award
October 2005 -- Pomperaug Elementary School Media Specialist, Patricia Smith, was recently awarded the Carlton W. H. Erickson Award from the Connecticut Educational Media Association (CEMA). According to CEMA, the annual award is given to a person who has made an auspicious beginning in media services through action, philosophy, speech, and a dedication to the goals and principles of the media profession. Recipients, who should have no more than five years experience in their profession, are recognized for their contributions to the students, faculty, lay citizens, and/or instructional program of the school or school system where they are employed. Ms. Smith was nominated by Pomperaug Elementary School principal Carissa Keepin and second-grade teacher Debra Fein. Winners are selected by a committee of their peers and previous year's winners. Ms. Smith will receive her award at CEMA's pre-conference in November 2005. |
