4/6/2015 - CAS Arts Awards
Pomperaug High School Seniors Bridget D. and Nokomis L. were two of 308 top Connecticut seniors who excelled in the arts this year and were honored at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) High School Outstanding Arts Awards Banquet on April 6, 2015 at Aqua Turf in Southington.
The CAS High School Arts Awards annually honors two outstanding seniors from each of the member schools in the state who excel in the performing or visual arts. They must possess the qualities of scholarship and leadership. Excelling in the performing or visual arts is of primary importance in the selection. Scholarship and leadership are also supporting criteria.
“Nokomis ranks in the top ten percent of theatre students,” said Paul Doniger, PHS Theatre teacher. “Her work for Pomperaug Theatre has been exemplary. When she is on stage, she never stops working on refining her character.”
PHS Art teacher Florin Firimita felt that Bridget’s selection for the honor was due to her creative thinking, willingness to take creative risks, and originality, based on the entire body of work she created this year.
The Connecticut Association of Schools High School Fine Arts Awards Recognition Banquet is made possible with support from Jostens.
