Pomperaug Theatre Company at Pomperaug High School announces the world premiere of a new play, Ubu The Conqueror, written and directed by our very own, Paul E Doniger. This play, based on the characters from the satirical marionette plays of a century earlier by Alfred Jarry, is set in the very distant future. It relates the clumsy attempts at world dominance by the much-less-than-brilliant title character, his ambitious wife, and a very loyal group of sketchy followers.
Ubu, who will be played by Cameron Slater, has just been elected President of the Western Hemisphere, and with the assistance of his wife, First Lady Ubu, played by Kathleen Stango, his loyal entourage (played by Lauren Stango, Samantha Torino, Jess Penzetta, and Jacob Rogotzke) and the brilliant Professor Unwitan, played by Marissa Proulx, decides to take over the rest of the world. The only trouble is that his conscience, played by Abbey Dwight, keeps trying to stop him.
This cast and crew for this production is being ably lead by Assistant Director Emily Pearson and Stage Manager Elizabeth Styblo. Set designs are being executed by Lea Claflin and costumes by Sophie Stanko.
There will be three performances in the auditorium at Pomperaug High School on Friday, May 6, 2016 and Saturday, May 7th at 7:30 pm as well as Sunday, May 8th at 2:30 pm. It’s a perfect time to take your mother to a show for her special day.
Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students, senior citizens, and region 15 staff. They may be reserved in advance or purchased at the door just before the performance. Call (203)-262-3247 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or to make reservations. The school is located at 234 Judd Rd. in Southbury, CT 06488. Enjoy the show
