Absentee
Voting You
can obtain Absentee Ballots for a spouse or college student who will be out of
town, a resident who is immobilized or anyone with a conflict,
as stated on the Application for Absentee Ballot that
may prevent them from voting on the 2006-2007 School Budget
Referendum on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. All Registered Voters or Owners of taxable property valued over $1,000
are eligible to vote. The
property (real estate/home, motor vehicle, personal) must be
listed in the person’s name on the October 1, 2005 Grand
List. Owner(s) must be
U.S. Citizen(s) over 18 years of age.
STEP ONE: Here are three ways to obtain an Application for Absentee Ballot for Referendum Authorized to be Held with Less Than 3 Weeks Notice (Form ED-3R REV 2/00):
Middlebury
Town Hall: 758-2557,
1212 Whittemore Road, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Southbury Town Hall: 262-0657,
501 Main Street, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. STEP
TWO: Return
the completed Application for Absentee Ballot to your
Town Clerk in person or through a designee.
Once your Application has been delivered, the
finalized Absentee Ballot should be available through
the Town Clerk’s office by April 20th.
As this date is unconfirmed at this time, please
telephone the Town Clerk’s office to check availability.
Once you have confirmed availability, the Absentee
Ballot can be obtained from the Town Clerk, either in
person or through an authorized designee.
STEP
THREE: You can vote and cast the Absentee Ballot at the Town Clerk’s office the very same day you pick it up. If you have appointed an authorized designee, your Absentee Ballot must be returned in person to the Town Clerk on or before the May 3rd Referendum.
