PTO ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES   

WED January 2^nd 2008

Attendees: Michelle Alvord, Kathy DeRienzo, Kelley Gurvis, Len Hamm, Connie Herr, Sue Isaacs, Janice Phillips-Robinson, Frank Sippy, Sandi Carbonari Welsh

 I.         Secretary’s Report not available for review.

II.        Treasurer’s Report. No change. Current balance is $2070.56.

     III.        Dr. Frank Sippy

PHS principal, Jim Agostine is a top candidate for Superintendent for Region 14. 

PHS Assistant principal Kristin Della Volpe is a candidate for principal at Litchfield HS.

Plan will be to have an interim principal and assistant principal while looking for replacements.

Starting January 4^th we will start the process to look at options for GES.  Hoping for results by end of January.

Sharon Guck will be the new BOE PTO Advisory representative.

Budget will be different than the last 2.

2% increase in utilities, medical, fuel, adding buses, etc.

ECS (Education Cost Sharing) grant to towns has been increased.

Southbury from 1.2 million to 2.3 million.  Middlebury from 249,000 to 500,000.

Other world language opportunities will be addressed.

2/11 is the superintendents presentation of the budget to the BOE.

Glen Shipway has resigned.  Southbury to replace.

October 1 enrollment   71% Southbury, 29% Middlebury

Facilities report is due in April.

       IV.         Old Business -

                     January DYK completed and ready for distribution.

        V.          New Business –

                     Karen Kirk – New budget section on the website with information and meeting dates is being worked on.  There is a new Inside the District in the works with an RMS student as the host.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6^th .
