ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES WED
October 4th 2006 Attendees: Michelle Alvord, Sandi Carbonari Welsh, Liz Falconer, Len Hamm, Connie Herr, Carol Hubert, Sue Isaacs, Suzanne Kenishea, Karen Kirk, Jackie Mulhall, Stefanie O’Connor, Janice Phillips-Robinson, Juan Rodriguez -Torrent, Frank Sippy, Fran Tepperman. I. Sept 6th 2006 meeting minutes approved. II. Treasurer’s Report. Current balance is $1535.65.
III. Dr. Frank Sippy On 9/18 & 9/19 a Strategic Planning meeting was held. Revisions planned to be presented in October to the BOE. There will be some course changes and changes in the strategic direction. Looking towards consistent practices in the classrooms to complement the curriculum. One strategy on services was deleted. LMES security surveillance will be installed within one week. This will be expanded to others schools in the district as funding allows. Sgt. Kramer will visit the HS to talk about how to handle threatening and suspicious phone calls with a consistent protocol. Revisiting the SRO officer at the HS. He is not just a policeman he is a source of information and communications. CMT scores mailed home. Slow turn around of test scores makes it difficult use the results effectively. A science component will be added in 2008 We are using the CAPT tests to look at the curriculum. A lot of work to do. The data is looked at many levels, such as gender, subject, grade. The Facilities Use Committee starts next week and will address short and long term issues such as full day kindergarten, cost benefit for Gainfield issues. Expect some direction by year end. Hope to have some input for the budget. Chung updating numbers. Revision due in December. Also looking at year to year projections. IV. Carol Hubert Sharon Elias is the new BOE member who was appointed to fill Jack Kelley’s position. V. Did You Knows timing, due dates and schedule was revised to best meet the different distribution schedules of the PTO’s.
