PTO ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES   

WED November 7^th 2007

Attendees: Kathy DeRienzo, Joni Ganci, Kelley Gurvis, Len Hamm, Connie Herr, Carol Hubert, Sue Isaacs, Janice Phillips-Robinson, Frank Sippy, Juan Rodriguez-Torrent, Sandi Carbonari Welsh

 I.         Secretary’s Report was approved.

II.        Treasurer’s Report. No change. Current balance is $2070.56.

     III.        Dr. Frank Sippy

Budget development started.  Energy costs will be a factor.  Class sizes will be looked at along with programs at the HS and the early learning program.

Capital items… more items than money available.  A facilities committee will be created to work within the budget, create a 5 year capital plan with no new construction and a 5 year capital with new construction.

This will be a more comprehensive budget, not just a maintenance budget.

Working at filling the BOE PTO Advisory Rep,  Len or Jackie to approach.

    IV.        Carol Hubert, Town of Southbury, PTO Advisory Rep.

Nothing new to report.

       V.          Old Business -

                     Thank you to Kelley Gurvis for putting together the Meet the BOE candidate forum.

                     DYK’s:  November – Math/Science Partnership Grant is completed.  December – none planned.  January – Information about Community Connections and Karen Kirk

                     Non-Region, non-PTO flyers continued discussion.

                     Can we come up with a community bulletin board for online notices? 

                     Consider benefit for kids, cost to distribute, not for profit programs

                     Need to continue to develop and discuss.

     VII.          New Business – None.

                     The December meeting has been canceled.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 2^nd.
