RMS Ribbit Market On Friday, December 21st, the seventh grade students from Rochambeau Middle School participated in a holiday Ribbit Market. Parents, grandparents, and young siblings were invited to shop at the market. Students in the seventh grade at RMS have been earning Ribbits (token bucks) doing classroom chores. Conversely, some have lost Ribbits for forgetting books and small behavioral infractions. At the Ribbit Market, students learned about economic principles as they set up their stores to market their wares. Skills included product display, accounting, marketing, salesmanship, price setting, supply and demand, making change and keeping track of income. Some of the items sold at this year's Ribbit Market included stuffed animals, homemade items/food, drinks, fingernail painting, and entertainment/sports. The students were responsible for pricing their items, working with others, designing a "storefront" or signage, keeping track of sales and profits, finding/making something to sell, and providing bags for shoppers. "I'm so happy that all the seventh grade classes participated this year," said Mrs. Beth Larkins-Strathy, 7th grade teacher at RMS. "It's crazy, but so much fun for the students. You can see it on their faces that they're having a great time with their shops."
