School Resource Officer -- UPDATE (2/13/07)

   Several weeks ago, PHS Principal Mr. James Agostine and School Superintendent Dr. Frank Sippy made their third presentation to the Southbury Board of Selectmen for a School Resource Officer (SRO) for Pomperaug High School.  As you may be aware, Region 15 cannot legally hire an SRO; the SRO funding must be part of the Town of Southbury's budget, as the high school is located in Southbury. 

 

   This Thursday, February 15, is the last Board of Selectmen meeting prior to the budget process. 

   A group of parents are scheduled to speak at 7:00 pm at the Southbury Town Hall at the start of the Board of Selectmen's meeting to briefly voice their opinion concerning the need for an SRO at the high school.  If you would like to voice your opinion, please do so as this is an open microphone session prior to the Board's meeting.  All residents are invited to attend. If you are a Middlebury parent, please feel free to attend as well because this issue affects your student also.
