In the 2014–15 school year, Connecticut will begin rolling out new assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The new assessments are being used to gauge how well students are mastering the standards—and ultimately how ready they are for college and further career education and training.
MathCounts teams from both Region 15 middle schools competed on February 1 at the Northwest Chapter competition at Naugatuck Valley Community College. The students will now compete at the state competition in March.

Region 15 has had 7 school cancellation days due to snow.
According to the district calendar, school cancellation days for weather or other emergency circumstances will extend the last day of school up to ten days. School closings in excess of ten days will be made up during the Spring Recess starting with Monday and working toward Friday.

Region 15 Dept. of Student Services invites Region 15 parents of children with special needs to a program entitled, "Transitioning Your Child to the Next Educational Level".

Parents and guardians of incoming Region 15 Kindergartners can start the registration process now by calling their child’s school. Parents are asked to first call their child’s school to notify the school that their child will be attending Kindergarten in the fall.
In Connecticut, a child who is 5 years old on or before January 1, 2015 can attend Kindergarten.
