FRIENDS OF POMPERAUG MUSIC, INC. is a Connecticut non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) formed in 1999 by concerned parents of Region 15 music students, with the simple purpose of providing opportunities for students to succeed through continuous excellence in music education. Over the last eleven years Friends has accomplished the following:

*  Provided an additional $7,000 to an anonymous $12,000 donation to purchase a complete set of orchestra and band risers

*  Generated gross revenues exceeding $100,000 from various fundraising activities, such as:
–   Raffled off a Harley Davidson “Fat Boy” motorcycle
–   Conducted FPM, Inc. golf tournament
–   Hosted major event concerts featuring professional acts such as: The Cast of Beatlemania, The Bill Mays Trio, Five O’Clock Shadow, Bill Harley, Riders on the Storm, and SteveSongs
–   Hosted the Bales & Gitlin Band at a Swing Dance instructional event with dance teacher Brian Gillie

*  Awarded $20,000 of D’Angelo scholarships (an annual $2,000 cash scholarship granted to a senior student(s) planning continued education in music)

*  Distributed over $8,000 in student grants and exposed our music students to special educational opportunities afforded by our all-volunteer organization

*  Purchased uniforms for all music students; coordinate annual distribution/collection of uniforms

*  Produced digital recordings of all school concerts and made CDs available to contributors

*  Assisted music faculty in all concert production and stage preparation

*  Served food and hosted the Regional CMEA auditions

*  Helped fund the purchase and installation of a new sound system for the auditorium

*  Sell refreshments and flowers at all major school concerts

*  Provide chaperones for all travel by the various band, orchestra and choral groups 

Friends of Pomperaug Music, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization that meets at Pomperaug High School in Southbury on the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings are both enjoyable and informative. The organization relies exclusively on the generous support of its members to contribute fund raising ideas, advertising and promotional concepts, and access to resources that simply cannot be found within the school system. Working in close coordination with the faculty, administrators, and students of Region 15, the organization provides the tools needed to keep music alive at Pomperaug High School.
