Student Health
The Region 15 school nursing staff supports student success by providing health care assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. Other programs that are run by the nursing staff:
Vision and Hearing: Vision is tested in Grades 1-9, Hearing in Grades 1-3, 5, and 8. If your child fails their screening twice, a referral form will be sent home. Please follow up with the referral and submit the results to the Health Office.
Scoliosis: Scoliosis screenings are performed in Grades 5-9.
Kindergarten Registration: All forms for Kindergarten Registration can be found on the Region 15 website.
Procedure for Returning to School After an Infectious Illness: Children who are ill or show signs of becoming ill should not be sent to school. Students can return to school after a recommended recovery time. Written guidelines can be obtained from each Health Office.

2009 H1N1 "Swine Flu" Information: Take all necessary precautions to keep your child and your family safe from H1N1 exposure.
Medical Appointments: Student medical and/or dental appointments should be made outside of school hours, whenever possible, to avoid taking the child out of school.
Medications: Parents must contact the school nurse if it is necessary for a child to take medication during school hours. A doctor's order is needed for any medication, including over-the-counter medications. The medication form can be obtained at the health office or online. The parent permission section (top 1/2 of form) must also be filled out and signed.
Region 15 Food Allergy Management Plan: The focus of the Region 15 School District's Food Allergy Management Plan shall be prevention, education awareness, communication and emergency response. The management plan shall strike a balance between the health, social normalcy and safety needs of the individual student with life-threatening food allergies and the education, health and safety needs of all students. The District Food Allergy Management Plan shall be the basis for the development of procedural guuidelines that will be implemented at the school level and provide for consistency across all the schools within the District.
