Attendance Procedures

State law requires the school district to inform Juvenile Authorities whenever a child has had four (4) unexcused absences in a month, or ten (10) or more unexcused absences in the course of a year.

 

 

Tardy Dismissed Early Half Day Absent Excused vs. Unexcused

Arrives after 9am and before 11am

Note: Students are not marked Tardy if their bus arrives late.

Leaves between 1:30 and 3:15pm

(No records kept if a student leaves between 3:15 and 3:40pm)

Student is in attendance for a minimum of 2 hours up to a total of 4.5 hours:

Arrives at school after 11am or leaves school before 1:30pm, or

Comes to school but leaves after the start of the school day and then returns, missing 2 or more hours of school

ex. Doctor's Appt.

Does not report to school all day, or

Comes to school but attends for less than a total of 2 hours

ex. Goes home sick before 11am

Excused per State Law:

  • Medical Reason
  • Religious Holiday
  • Court Appearance
  • Funeral or Death in the Family
  • Serious family emergency
  • Approved school activity
  • Suspension
  • A special activity (limited circumstances, prior approval of the principal)

Unexcused:

  • A special activity which has not been granted prior approval by the principal such as: a family trip, Take Your Child to Work Day
