Nutmeg Children's Book Award 2013: |

This is Connecticut's children's choice award. Students in Grade 4 and 5 read the 10 nominees and vote on their favorite at the end of January, 2013. All students are required to complete a Nutmeg Report Card for the books they have read. Mrs. Messina would like to see you read at least 6 of the titles by Jan. 25, 2013. Those students who read all 10 nominees, without abandoning any of them, and complete the Nutmeg Report Card thoroughly will receive the coveted "Rubber Chicken Award." All 4th and 5th grade students were introduced to the current Nutmeg nominees in Feb., 2012.
| Nutmeg Book Bowl 2012 |
| This year students in 5th grade competed with their classmates in the first annual Nutmeg Book Bowl. Teams were responsible for reading each Nutmeg nominee and completing a corresponding graphic organizer. They posted comments on a Nutmeg blog and then took a test to demonstrate their knowledge of the books. The four, top-scoring teams went on to complete in the Nutmeg Book Bowl. Congratulations to all of our teams that took part in this great project and to the "Nutmeg Crushers," our winning team. |
