Middlebury Elementary School

The reading program in Region 15 is based on authentic literature. A large library of books is available at various reading levels allowing teachers to choose selections for the needs of each child. A sequence of concepts and skills spirals from the youngest grades to the fifth grade and instruction occurs in a variety of settings; explicit whole group instruction, small group instruction and individual conferencing with students.

Assessment is an integral part of the reading program. Children are assessed with a variety of instruments to help the staff design and teach to the needs of all children.
