Pomperaug Elementary School

Region 15 has developed a standards based curriculum and uses the Trailblazer’s Math Program as the basis for math instruction for all elementary students. This program meets the state standards and is consistent with the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Math. Students learn concepts and skills with the use of many manipulatives and real life problems. Children are taught to “think mathematically” as they encounter new material, and to use effective strategies to solve math problems. The program is spiral in nature with many concepts and skills introduced and reinforced over time, at more complex levels.
