All 7th and 8th Grade students are scheduled for Computers.  Instruction is based on the following concepts:  productivity, ethics, communications, research, technology sytems, and change - social and human impact.

7th Grade Computers

7th students are scheduled for computers for two periods over each six day rotation for one semester.  This equates to approximately 30 - 42 minute periods.

Students utilize software to complete projects that will strengthen their understanding of a computer as a tool and their awareness about how a computer works.  The ultimate goal is that the students become independent learners with knowledge that allows them to move between different software programs easily and troubleshoot simple problems and issues on their own without the need for additional assistance.  Students receive instruction in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets, print publications and Internet safety.

8th Grade Computers

All 8th grade students are scheduled for Advanced computers.  The class meets once a rotation for the entire school year.  Students build upon concepts that were introduced in 7th grade.  They complete projects that include advanced features of the Microsoft Office products, basic animation, digital storytelling, video production, and podcasting.
