Evidence continues to focus on the arts (music) as a vital component in the positive growth of every child, Rochambeau Middle School provides an opportunity for every child to experience a quality general music program.
6th Grade General Music – Instructors Ms. Brewer and Mr. West
The 6th grade general music program meets each day for one quarter of the school year. Students in general music will experience a wide variety of musical experiences including creating, listening, performing and analyzing music. The quarter will include, world music drumming, creating music, learning about instruments, listening to wide variety of musical styles and genre and music technology.
7th Grade General Music – Instructor Ms. Brewer
The 7th grade general music program meets each day for one quarter of the school year. Students in general music will experience a variety of musical experiences including classical composer project, guitar class, and creating a “recorded pod cast” using music technology. This quarter of music is a fast paced hand’s on class.
Guitar - Instructors: Miss Mingione, Ms. Brewer
One of the most popular 8th grade electives, Guitar, is offered as a semester long Related Arts Elective. Students learn the basics of playing the guitar, as well as the history of the instrument, and who played a major role in the evolution of the instrument. Students learn a variety of rock and pop pieces and have opportunities to work in large and small groups. Students also learn the basics of improvising and creating their own songs. At the end of the semester, the small ensemble has a chance to perform for their parents and peers.
