March 27, 2006 Dear Parent: The Region 15 Board of Education recently adopted Tools for Schools, a program to improve indoor air quality in our schools. Region 15 is proud to be taking a leadership role in providing a safe, comfortable, and productive environment for our students and staff so that we can achieve our goal of providing a quality education for the students of Region 15. Our school district will follow the EPA program to improve our indoor air quality (IAQ) by preventing as many IAQ problems as possible, and responding quickly to any IAQ problems that may arise within our district. We wanted to communicate our recent commitment to you, and also inform you that we will soon have a section on the district web-site that will be dedicated to Tools for Schools. It will include links to federal and state sites on IAQ that may be helpful at home as well as in school, and will contain checklists, and summaries of the districts activities. This will be completed by April 15, 2006. Each school will have a Health and Safety Committee that will be responsible for implementing and managing Tools for Schools for their site. Each school will have a site coordinator as well. I will be the district coordinator for Region 15. We will be distributing additional information on the structure of the committee’s and the contacts in the near future. If you have any questions
or concerns, feel free to contact me anytime. K.
