“TOWN TALK” MEETINGS TO BE HELD AT LOCAL LIBRARIES

Region 15 Superintendent Hosts Informal Community Conversations

Town Talk Meetings

Middlebury Library: Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30pm

Southbury Library: To Be Announced

In a grassroots effort to communicate the details of the proposed school budget, and to listen to voter concerns, Region 15 school superintendent Dr. Frank Sippy will be hosting two informal conversations at both the Middlebury and Southbury Public Libraries.  These meetings will be held on Wednesday, April 26th at the Middlebury library on Whittemore Road and the one at the Southbury library will be announced when the library is close to opening.

“We’re getting down to the wire now and some folks still have questions about the school budget,” said Dr. Sippy. “I want to be able to answer as many questions as possible, prior to the referendum.”

Residents are invited to attend either meeting and both meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and are scheduled to last one hour.

Since January, Board of Education members and school administrators have been meeting with members of the communities, Parent-Teacher Organizations, and town government officials, to discuss the school budget and openly answer questions. Again this year, Board of Education member Joseph J. Zukoski, III is visiting the PTO meetings, to keep the lines of communication open between the Region 15 parents and the Board.

Middlebury and Southbury residents are also opening their homes for “Neighborhood Coffees” with Dr. Sippy to discuss the proposed budget. At this time, one is scheduled at Brookside neighborhood in Middlebury and one is scheduled at Traditions in Southbury.

“We have a long legacy in New England to gather together and share information that will affect everyone in town,” said Dr. Sippy. “At the Town Talk meetings, everyone will have a voice, and everyone will be heard. I hope a lot of people come out, have some coffee and cake, and get some conversation going.”
