“TOWN TALK” MEETINGS TO BE HELD AT MIDDLEBURY LIBRARY AND SOUTHBURY
STOP & SHOP CONFERENCE ROOM
In a grassroots effort to communicate the details of the
proposed school budget, and to listen to voter
concerns, Region 15 school superintendent Dr. Frank Sippy will
be hosting two informal conversations in
Middlebury and Southbury.
These
meetings will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at the
Southbury Stop and Shop conference room and Wednesday, April 26th
at the Middlebury library. Both Town Talks begin at 6:30 p.m.
“We
have been making a concerted effort to communicate the budget
proposal to the community through brochures, meetings, and cable
television,” said Dr. Sippy. “There’s nothing quite like
face-to-face conversation and I want to be able to answer as
many questions as possible about the school budget.”
Since
January, Board of Education members and school administrators
have been meeting with members of the communities,
Parent-Teacher Organizations, and town government officials, to
discuss the school budget and openly answer questions. Board
member Joseph J. Zukoski, III visited seven PTO meetings to
continue his outreach to the community. Middlebury
and Southbury residents are also opening their homes for
“Neighborhood Coffees” with Dr. Sippy to discuss the
proposed budget. “We
have a long legacy in New England to gather together and share
information that will affect everyone in town,” said Dr.
Sippy. “Last year, we had many people turn out to the Town
Talks. At these meetings, everyone will have a voice, and
everyone will be heard. I hope a lot of people come out, have
some coffee and cake, and get some conversation going.” For
