Region 15 Schools

Region 15 Schools is proud to announce that Lisa Roshkind has been named the 2026-27 Region 15 Paraeducator of the Year!

A highly intuitive and compassionate special education paraeducator at Pomperaug Elementary School's learning center, Ms. Roshkind embodies the very best of student support, dedication, and heart within our district. Since joining Region 15 in March 2022, she has built a stellar reputation for her exceptional patience and her profound ability to form meaningful relationships with students of all diverse learning needs.

Colleagues note that Ms. Roshkind "puts an incredible amount of time, care, and thought into supporting the students she works with." Rather than lowering expectations for students facing challenges, she focuses on finding innovative, tailored ways to help them meet and exceed those goals.

Her impact stretches far beyond the academic curriculum. Highly resourceful at adapting materials to maximize student engagement, she famously meets every challenge with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset: “Let’s figure it out together.” "She brings a positive attitude to work and is ready to conquer every moment of the day. Lisa sees the potential in all individuals in our building." shared a Region 15 Colleague.

Beyond her remarkable direct support for students, Ms. Roshkind is an indispensable asset to the broader educational team. Working seamlessly alongside classroom teachers, therapists, and families, she is celebrated for her proactive mindset, her flexibility when plans pivot, and her infectious positivity.

“Lisa approaches each day with care, patience, and a genuine belief in every student’s potential. Her commitment to her student and to our school community is evident in all that she does, making her truly deserving of recognition as Paraeducator of the Year,” said Stephanie Furman, Pomperaug Elementary School Principal.

"Ms. Roshkind is the kind of educator who transforms a classroom environment through her passion, empathy, and heart. Her unwavering commitment to student success, her collaborative spirit with colleagues and families, and her dedication to student success represents the absolute highest standards of excellence in our district. We are thrilled to honor her," shared Joshua Smith, Superintendent of Schools
